So darn cute! Is she a beagle? (It's tough to guess the breed from the photo.)
Congratulations! I love the dog that Coco has become, but sometimes I miss the overwhelming adorableness of puppyhood. It's a good thing you're willing to take one for the team.
You know, I just don't get it. How can people do that? There is no way on earth that I could send any creature to a kill shelter. Hell, we kept Coco rather than dropping her off at ANY shelter. Someone had abandoned her at the side of the road in the middle of a thunderstorm when she was 5 weeks old. DH's parents found her, and the next thing I knew, we had a dog.
She's mixed, too. The vet seems to think American Foxhound, but no one's sure. She's taller and leaner than purebred beagles, and she has a slightly fanned tail. Sass and Coco should get along famously. I foresee puppy playdates in our future! Yay!
Frankly, I couldn't even bring myself to go to a kill shelter to look for a pup. I knew I'd have nightmares about the puppies I didn't bring home. So I adopted from the rescue, and will be signing a big check over to them so they can go rescue more pups.

Sass is an excellent name.

Regardless, I think there's a lot of babytalk in my immediate future.
